I began my professional career in 1998 on successful completion of a BBC sponsored Honours Degree from the University of Leeds. I then travelled overseas for several years working as a wildlife and landscape photographer and videographer, living in incredible locations such as Australia, Malaysia, the Maldives, the Bahamas and the Caribbean. I am a qualified PADI Scuba Diving Instructor and RYA Licenced Boat Captain, so much of this time was spent on and under the water, filming our incredible marine life. In 2004 I returned home and spent some time travelling the length of the UK working in the TV industry as a camera operator and editor.
My career as a portrait photographer began when my eldest daughter was born in 2005, and I realised that travelling a lot for work and being a mum didn’t really go hand in hand! I was surrounded by pregnant friends, babies and young families and it was a natural progression for me to start photographing them. It wasn’t long before word spread and I was hooked on this new genre of image making. Now 11 years on, I have established myself as a trustworthy and reassuring photographer who will reliably capture the essence of family life through graceful, honest and thoughtful images.
I am a Pro Member of the Baby and Newborn Photography Association (BANPAS), a Registered member of the Guild of Photographers and a Licentiate Member of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (SWPP), and regularly attend seminars and workshops run by these organisations and other esteemed photographers to further refine my skills. I truly believe you can never stop learning! For further details and to check availability, please call 01527 962022 or email me.
